UK supermarkets including Tesco and Co-op urgently recall products over health and safety fears – Cheshire Live

Some of the country’s major supermarkets have issued urgent product recalls over some items on their shelves this week.

Customers who have bought the following items are warned not consume them and return them to where they bought them from as soon as possible.

Possible safety fears include the presence of plastic in food, or potentially labels missing allergens from the ingredients.

These are the latest urgent product recalls issued by the Food Standards Agency in the past week:

Co-op – Chocolate Caramel Shortcake bites

Co-op is recalling 18 Chocolate Caramel Shortcake Bites. This is because some packs contain an incorrect product resulting in barley (gluten) not being mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten.

Product details

Pack size: 18 pieces

Best before: October 16 2020

Allergens: Gluten (barley)

Advice to customers

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten do not eat it. Instead customers should call 0800 0686 727, email customer.careline@coop.co.uk or if customers are making an essential trip to the nearest Co-op store, they can return the item in-store for a full refund.

Co-op is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.

Snak Shed – Milk Chocolate Coated Jumbo Raisins

Country Products Ltd is recalling Snak Shed Milk Chocolate Coated Jumbo Raisins because they contain peanuts which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

Best before: July 21 2021

Allergens: Peanuts

Advice to customers

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to peanuts do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Iceland/Greggs – Frozen Steak Bakes

Greggs is recalling Greggs frozen 2 pack steak bakes because they may contain small pieces of plastic. The presence of plastic makes this product unsafe to eat.

This product is exclusively sold in Iceland Stores and does not affect the products sold in Greggs.

Best before: December 20 2020, December 22 2020 and December 23 2020

Advice to customers

If you have bought the above Greggs product from Iceland, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the Iceland store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Greggs is recalling the above product. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all Iceland stores that are selling this product.

Van der Meulen’s Melba thins original

Van der Meulen is recalling Melba Thins Original (sold in Tesco and Waitrose)  because they contain egg which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Tiger Tiger – Spicy Pad Thai Paste

JK Foods (UK) is recalling Tiger Tiger Spicy Pad Thai Paste (sold in Tesco) because it contains peanuts which is not correctly emphasised on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

JK Foods (UK) is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.
