First, allow me to thank Moms Meet for choosing me for this opportunity to review the brand new Kyo-Dophilus® Pro+ Synbiotic Chewable Tablets from Wakunaga! Always fun to try out a great product before it hits the market! Thanks also to Wakunaga, of course.
Please note that I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions, which I do below. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.
Second, let me tell you a bit about what I have learned about Wakugana, as I think that really highlights the company’s dedication to offering healthy supplements.
Wakunaga supplements were first conceived in Japan following World War II. The founder was Manji Wakunaga, who was actually a banker that had a unique insight and the strong desire to help enhance the health of his countrymen who just suffered through a war. Mr. Wakunaga believed that pharmaceutical companies should be devoted to researching and developing products that would both improve and support good health. He felt that instead of focusing on the health of the public, other pharmaceutical companies focused on their profits and promoted products and misleading claims to that effect.
He found a partner to join in his efforts in 1954 – Dr. Eugene Schnell, a German physician and professor who immigrated to Japan in the 1930s joined Mr. Wakunaga to rebuild the country’s pharmaceutical industry the right way and to provide clean medicine for its population.
Subsequently, in 1955, Mr. Wakunaga founded the Wakunaga Pharmaceutical Company in Osaka, Japan and Dr. Schnell developed a process for aging garlic that both eliminated the strong odor and enhanced the beneficial compounds of garlic. This was the company’s first product and a highly successful one.
A couple of decades later, in 1972, Mr. Wakunaga and his son formed Wakunaga of America and brought the Aged Garlic Extract to the US and sold the Aged Garlic Extract here as Kyolic. Since that time, Wakunaga of America has become a key global player in creating healthy supplements based on the original Aged Garlic Extract and other new product lines – including Kyo-Dophilus!
Kyo-Dophilus was developed in 1989 after the company started focusing on the benefits of probiotics for both digestive and immune health. Kyo-Dophilus probiotics were developed with the The Friendly Trio, the basis of the company’s probiotics. The Friendly Trio includes three human-strain probiotic bacteria.
To date, the third generation of the Wakunaga family remains involved in every aspect of the company and is still dedicated to providing effective products for the health conscious everywhere.
Now for Kyo-Dophilus® Pro+ Synbiotic itself – the product comes in chewable tablets that contain a specially selected prebiotic and a community of nine probiotic strains, including in each The Friendly Trio®. Synbiotic is a term used for probiotics and prebiotics which are combined to provide a synergistic beneficial effect in the microbiome.
Kyo-Dophilus® Pro+ Synbiotic is designed to help with occasional intestinal distress and to keep the microbiome in one’s gut strong so as to support regularity and the immune system.
The Friendly Trio is the core of the product’s formulations. It includes the Lactobacillus gasseri KS-13, Bifidobacterium bifidum G9-1, and Bifidobacterium longum. Each have their benefits as follows:
The products are made without any gluten, soy, GMOs, dairy, artificial flavors and artificial colors.
As for my experience – I followed the instructions and took the tablets for the two week period (although ideally one may want to wait 30 days to see the full effect). I took two chewable tablets of Kyo-Dophilus Pro+ Synbiotic once a day, usually at the same time each day, so as to establish a routine – that is always a good thing. I like the fact that they are chewables and not “horsepills” that are hard to swallow. I also like that they come packaged individually as that makes it much easier to take them along – you may think individual packaging is not super eco-friendly but is it better to put a few into a ziplock each time you need to take it?
I made sure that I had no negative reaction to it – we are all different and have different systems and it is possible that one may experience negative side effects (in which case it is best to stop). I was fine and had no issues while or after taking them and my body adapted well to the tablets.
I already have what I consider a strong digestive and immune system (and let’s hope I am right 🙂 so that I am not sure how much the tablets helped me personally – while I did not notice any negative effects, on the positive side, taking them does create a sense of fullness before eating and helps control portions as well, if needed.
The tablets actually taste fine, to me it has a light sweetness to it.
So, if you are considering boosting your digestive and immune health with some well-researched products, give these a go! They usually retail at $43.99.
