WASHINGTON, D.C. — A public health alert was issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service over a beef meatballs product that was misbranded and produced with an undeclared allergen.

The FSIS said the health alert was issued “out of the utmost of caution” to ensure that consumers with allergic reactions to milk are aware that this product should not be consumed. A recall was not requested because the FSIS said it believes the product is no longer available to be directly bought by consumers.
